FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official Government of India NSQF website?

No. This is an independent informational portal that explains NSQF in plain language. For the official, legally binding notification, always refer to ncvet.gov.in.

How many levels does NSQF have now?

The 2023 revision defines Level 1 through Level 8, with half-levels (2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5) in between — 13 distinct levels in total.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

RPL is a formal assessment process that lets someone with existing skills or work experience — even without formal certificates — get recognised at the right NSQF level.

How is NSQF different from NCrF?

NCrF (National Credit Framework) is the broader credit system covering school, higher and vocational education. NSQF is the skills-and-vocational layer that aligns into it.

NCVET is responsible for recognising awarding bodies and assessment agencies that certify qualifications against NSQF levels.
